Fuel gage in empty lightbulb.

List of words that describe the creative block.

Artist inspiration. (didn't really end up looking at this in the end truthfully).

Week 4 (part one actual workbook)

During the week I (ironically) realised I have artists block. My ideas just stopped cold and I start questioning everything.

Maybe actually name it an expletive because thats how I feel about artists block.

Lees idea about how I could improve my shit

Some of my ideas that I made into things on the computer

Maze in a brain, didn't really work out, looked like shit and didn't communicate the idea I wanted it to.

ideaideaideaideaidea (no idea!!!)

Being literally stumped. Or the whole overused broken/ jammed cog in brain idea.

Some ideas about how to represent searching for ideas, being stuck for ideas etc etc.

Keynote speaker will get two spreads the rest will get one page each. They can have stuff coming out of the top of their heads.

Thumbnails drawings from friday. just some basic sketch ups. Maybe taking the top the head of and have their brain with ideas floating out of it or something. Thats what I was thinking but I won't know if ti will work until i actually try it.

Another idea for brochure, a litteral box/ cube that folds out. Downside will be the difficulty of the print ad how to keep it together.

Week 3

A couple of thumbnails to do with ideas for the creative block poster idea thing.

Words brainstorm on names and ideas for the creative block idea/ conference thingy. I liked the word stuck, but didn't know how I could get it to work. Ill keep on thinking about that. I also liked the word stumped.

Interim

I had this idea between last week and todays interim to do a conference about artists block because I was really struggling with ideas for the local one. I made one from each subject for class.

this is my first idea. Its for local. Its supposed to be a guy puking (regurgitating) up kiwiana because it's overused and doesnt represent the New Zealand public anymore.

This was my creative/ artists block idea. Its supposed to represent the pain and frustration of actually having artists block, like shoving pencils into your brain.

This was the feedback from the class. From the looks of it more people liked and understood my artists/ creative block one more so i think ill go with that idea.

inspiration shit and beginnings

inspiration for my local interim poster and speakers work and the beginnings of what i showed at interim

Local idea, tattoos of different cultures now incorporated into our social identity as a culture tattooed onto someones hands. The idea that we all make up part of New Zealands identity, not what kiwiana is showing us.

These two ideas were the beginning of my ideas for brain block. The idea is the ... so your thinking but its just continuous and you cant think of anything, thus brain block.

Next idea for creative block. Its supposed to be a brainstorm, however their are no ideas because you cant think of any, your just really stuck.

David Trubridge - he uses (in this case the Kina) natural forms for inspiration for his work. I think its a neat idea that I could look into so its non cheesy.

Other look at more colloquial ideas. I cant remember the artists name at the moment but his prints are centred around kiwi centric prints.

Week two

I think Im going to go local. I presented my ideas to Lee and we both agreed that the local idea had more pizazz behind it. She said I need to really make sure I dont go along the gross stereotypical path which could be very very very bad and sore for the eyes.

Two thumbnails, one is puking out kiwiana and the other is some one holding up their arms with tattoos representing a wide range of cultures found in New Zealand.

(tad blurry) It was New Zealand colloquialisms. Like Yea nah, good as gold, choice! etc.

Drawings about New Zealand to typical.. Need to come up with some good ideas man. Fingerprint Jandals were supposed to represent a hands on touch or whatever. Ended up just looking shite.

Brainstorm on words and ideas centred around local.

Exercise in class where we had to pair up. We were given  to items (we got a picture of some cream stuff and the word refusal). We had the idea of reusing to shave (the top two pictures), refusing to use anti ageing cream and the refusal to hide tattoos with foundation/ make-up.
